First, baby food IS a 'solid' food.

I wait until 12 months for ALL food. Breastmilk, formula and water is ALL my children got before that. I got bashed for it but oh well, that is what I chose to do and my kids are perfectly healthy.

Back in the day things were a lot different and they didn't know things that we know now.
My mom and mil say some of the same things. Do what you think is best for your baby.

Your the mom so who cares?! You know what's best for your baby and taking someone else's opinion when they don't have to deal with the result is dumb. I am sorry I deal with it all the time. I got my kids on cereal around 4 months and they wre on table food around 8-9 months. Mostly mashed potatoes and they are perfectly heathy and great at ages 9 6 and 5. I was told things differently by my doctor so they started on cereal to be satisfied longer anyways things change all the time. I mean look at the laying on back laying them on tummy! Lol why knows you just have to do what's best for you and your baby.  

Table foods are no harder on baby's digestion than purées. Same food. The difference is baby chewing or mouth-mashing to swallow. Purées are NOT any better than table foods and often (when store bought) have preservatives and chemicals and salt.

I started solids early because he had reflux, meds didn't help, and he was dropping weight and they said they were going to hospitalize him...so I started a couple spoons of cereal before I nursed and he held it down fine. At 6 mo he was back on track for weight and we began introducing other foods, but purées only lasted a week or so.

No matter what side you are on feeding early or waiting to start you are going to be bashed for it lol I have seen it so many times on here.

As well as to vaccinate or not vaccinate, to circumcise or not to circumcise, pro-life vrs pro-choice, putting cereal in a baby’s bottle or not (doctor recommended for health issues or not) lol everything you do someone is going to take offense to and put their two cents in just do what you feel is best for your child in the end you are his/her mother and you know your child best and what your child needs.

my son was around 7 months when he first started getting babyfood, and now he gets some table food hes 10 months now. Alot of people were telling me hes hungry and needs more solids since hes a big boy and all, i just ignored then and went on with when i wanted to give him food. he is perfectly healthy and happy! dont worry about it though

With baby food we waited until our first lost her tongue reflex and could sit unassisted. She was 6 1/2 months old. I waited because even our pediatrician said it's still 4-6 months but she feels one should wait until at least six months old. She told us the four months rule is old research and she has to still say it due to the clinics policy. That is why we love her lol, she does independent research on things.

Even then our daughter was breastfed, waited 30 min then fed baby food. She only ate a tablespoon of baby food. She didn't eat table food until she was 12 months old, on her birthday she had a bite of a healthy cake. Wasn't full on eating table food until 14 months old, meaning eating more then one meal a day. She also continued to breastfeed twice a day until 2, then only once, then weaned off when she was almost three years old.

I am waiting for tongue reflex and sitting up unassisted again for our now four month old.

I don't bash anybody for what they decide to do as long as it doesn't hurt their kid. I didn't wait, I couldn't my daughter grew and is growing super fast is really tall and would scream. So at a month I'd give her a spoonful or two of ceral with breastmilk by two months old I gave her basic foods it got old her trying to grab food on my plate she wanted to try stuff. At four months she's four and half now I started different foods and letting her try some things on the table mostly mashed potatoes stuff like that. I'm not going to listen to her scream when she is hungry and I'm not producing enough to satisfy her. Mind you she seriously mostly eats solids when its a growth spurt my boobs won't/can't keep up with me pumping at work. Again its a to each their own my pedi knows what were doing and was ok with it my daughters healthy and chunky in all the right spots.

People bashed me for wanting to ERF LO. And shortly after that it became the new recommendation. The times they are a changin'.

Your kid your choice. LO was not ready for full table food until 12 months because she didn't start baby food until 9 months.

People will also give you smurf for feeding at 4 months, but thats what a lot of girls on here are, judgmental dill holes.

So you dont want to be judged for starting solids at 8 months but you're going to judge those who start before the recommended age? Interesting.

Some people are just rude. Its no ones business- no harm is being done!

We started letting LO try different things at 6 months. She didn't want to. She's 9 months now and still isn't interested. Some people tell me she should e off milk and eating food now- whaaat? Or that if I'd started earlier she'd like food... She doesn't need food yet so I pay them no mind!

Talk about bashing! I was called a child molester SOOOO much!
