Yeah I didn't do it in public, because of that fear. I am very fortunate that I have a supportive husband, MIL, and parents though, they never cared..

He was 11 mo the first time someone told me it was child molestation (in her opinion, after 8 mo is dirty).

11 mo was also when I quit even bothering with a cover. If people are going to be offended anyway, I might as well be comfortable and not have to fight my son   he hated covering so i only did it around strangers at dinner party situations (not public) and at DH's work (he's a Marine, so ALL men and young guys who oogle me fully dressed)

We started our son on solids around 6-7 months. It will likely be the same for every other child we have in the future.

Fortunately, I have a life. And that life doesn't consist of weeping and whining over what other people choose to feed their children and when they choose to do it. Your child, your decision. There's no reason to care what other people think unless you know you're wrong. I'd just ignore it and go on my merry way.

My ILs thought it was weird and tried to pressure me to stop, but we live 3000 miles away, so I didn't have to deal with it much.

<blockquote><b>Quoting Julian's Momma  :</b>" I have a question for all the mommies out there. Now first let me say that I honestly don't care what ... I think it depends on the child. My mom was given the okay to start my niece on cereal at three months and other foods could be slowly added after. The pedi said her digestive system was developing earlier than usual as she was already drooling at 2.5 months.

But generally I think 4-6 months is best to wait for cereal.

To be honest, I think whatever mom feels is best is best. I don't think your in the wrong, from what I understand it's best to hold off. However, I started at 3 months with my son. With my daughter i'll probably wait until she turns 5 or 6 months.
