IUD?

I have my follow up appointment tomorrow for my miscarriage. I know we'll be talking future options etc, and I'm thinking that maybe now just isn't the right time. I haven't had a great track record with hormonal BC, so I'm wondering if I should go the route of the non-hormonal IUD.
I want to wait at least 6m-1y before we discuss TTC again, but I'm not sure if we should just use condoms, or go the with the IUD.

Thoughts, experiences, opinions?

Well if you really dont do well with pills id maybe consider the nuva ring. I used this for a year and a half and it worked well for me. The IUD is more for long term use it stays in for 5 years and if you only want BC for like 6 months id go with something you can just stop.

thank you for responding. It's not actually taking the pills that I have an issue with, it's the hormones. I was also on nuvaring for a time.

your welcome...most OB/GYN's will discourage you from long term BC like implanon and IUD if you plan on using it for less than a year. You could just try condoms though if you and your hubby dont mind

I don't mind, but hubby does  
no, he's fine with it though. I figured an IUD probably wouldn't be the best for such a short amount of time, but right now I'm not sure if I want to try again at all, which is why I've thought about it a bit.

I would have to agree with Melissa, the copper IUD is more for long term. I personally have only had the merina, I've tried it twice. The first time I had it I was in so much pain that they almost admitted me for pain management until they removed it. The second time was after dd and it wasn't as bad, but I was really crampy and had it removed a few months later.

This is the first I'm hearing this, I'm so sorry Monica     As for an IUD I really wouldn't recommend it. I had one for two years and I was completely miserable and depressed the entire time. It was a nightmare.

Yeah :/ I had my 2 week appointment today. She basically said since I have smurf luck with hormones, I should go with paraguard(the copper one) if I went with an IUD, and basically blamed my weight for my miscarriages, didn't talk about doing anything else to figure things out, and recommended I go talk with the the bariatric surgery department. It was a hard day.

  I'm sorry Monica. I am thinking about the copper IUD as well. My mom wants me to get my tubes tied, but I don't want to do it. I don't want another baby, but I don't want to do that either.

I don't think I'll get my tubes tied. Sean and I have talked it over for years on what we'll do when we're "done" and he said that he'll get the vasectomy, and I agreed to get an IUD.
The only pamphlets she had were in spanish, so big help to me ha.
