Yeah, it's a pretty big surprise seeing as we were actively TNTC, lol. And Thanks!

Girls - Delilah, Charlotte (Lottie), Natalie, Violet, Anastasia (my name), Penelope, Gianna, Alice, Lucy, Ruby, Rosemary, and of course my girls' names: Taylor & Hailey.

I recently had Hailey and even though I love the name, I was thinking of changing it, but keeping it as a middle name but SO isn't on board

Boys - Oliver, Dexter, Toby, Gabriel, Sebastian, Michael, Alexander, Jude, Avery, Casper, Felix and Ethan (even though it's super popular!)

Anywhere. Just because it's not a popular name, or a name from a Twilight book doesn't make it less of a name. Feel free to look it up sometime.

Yeah....I'd go back to the drawing board. That is pretty bad.

I just looked up this word on a few of the more reputable sites and it's not on there.

But the fact that you pulled the "Twilight" card explains a lot...

Well, that's nice you feel that way, but your opinions won't alter my decision. As I'm sure my opinions won't effect you either.

It's a word - an object, not a name, lol. Names are based off of etymology and names have a history that you can trace through anthroponymy and onomastics. Chalice is a word and is often used to symbolize the female genitalia. Just because a few people have had bad judgement and used it for a child doesn't mean you should, too.

Go for Alice.

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. I have a name chosen for each gender...and noneof them have anything to do with Twilight lmao;

The fact you use websites to find the legitimacy of a name explains a lot.

Websites are a good tool, I also use a number of books, I can suggest a few that have a decent reputation. Oxford Dictionary of First Names, Oxford Names Companion (look for this at a library, it's a huge volume and cost me over 50.00 USED), Teresa Norman's "A World Of Baby Names" is decent, but you should always compare your sources anyway.A few others if you want a longer list.

But yes - like I said before, names are based off of anthroponymy, onomastics and etymology. The MAJORITY of sites that label themselves as "baby name" sites are full of complete and utter crap - but there ARE a few that are decent.

Why?

There are a few websites that are extremely accurate, that include origin, history and most importantly etymology.

It's also easier to go to than a book while I'm on the internet.

Also - you ahve to consider the fac that you are naming a PERSON, not a baby or an animal. This person will spend the majority of their life as an adult and will need to be able to have a career and be taken seriously in a professional environment. Dr. Chalice? Seriously, it sounds like a stage name for an adult entertainer.

Choosing a name is a lifelong decision that you are making for someone else. It's not something that you choose based only on your personal style, but what your child will be able to live with for an entire lifetime.
