Your midwife shouldn't be pushing you to do anything that you don't want to do.. That's just wrong. They're meant to provide support, not harrass you into doing things their way.
Also, what exactly is tongue tie? I've heard of it but never quite figured out exactly what it is :S

My son is 4 months and tongue tied. His pedi said he's not going to do anything unless it interferes with DS's ability to talk.

There were quite a few babies in my due group with tongue ties, their babies were snipped within the first few days after birth, a few tears and little to no blood.
But do what you feel is right

Yea it's hard ay   I still don't take my kids for their imms lol I make richard or my mum take them.
What's the glucose thing? No harm in going to the dr anyway, you can always decline it at any time! But if you're going to do it it probably would be best sooner rather than later. But I know what you mean she's still brand new
Could your mum take her?

My oldest was.
Wasn't severe but just enough to not have a proper latch on the breast/bottle. No surgery though. I would not let them snip it without numbing. I wouldn't do it unless it was absolutely necessary.

Btw this is the first i've seen of the baby (avi). She looks just like hazel. She's precious, congrats again!

I posted this to another post re: this

---

My baby just had this done a few weeks ago when he was 8 weeks old. It seemed to bother him immediately, but they put him on to breastfeed right away so the bleeding would stop, and he stopped crying right then and there. I only used Baby Tylenol twice - once that evening and once the next day. The doctor said she performed the procedure on her 40 year old sister and it didn't hurt. She also performed it on a 7 year old who didn't experience much pain as well.

----

They said it annoys them more than anything,to have their mouths invaded like that. But how are we to know, right? If you don't want it done, don't do it. If baby's latch is fine, what are they saying the issue is?

Mine had it done because he had a bad latch. He's MUCH better now.

It's for babies that are over 10lbs, it's to check for diabetes or something of the sort, the sugar levels, and because she was 10lbs 10oz she had to have 3 of them done.
