Herpes

Are there two different kind of Herpes? I was told I was positive for them after I had my baby, never had to take medicine and have NEVER had any on my vagina! I do get cold sores on my lip about every 6 months, is this why they didnt tell me when I was pregnant? I have heard there are two types so just wondering.

I think in science class they said cold sores are technically herpes.

Two types, oral and vaginal. I forget which one is which, but oral is pretty common. Even little kids get cold sores so it is nothing sexual.

I know there are a few different types.
I've never had any on my vagina, or even any cold sores on my lips.
My OB told me I tested positive for a form of it, but he said it's a form 90% of the population has and that he was not surprised that I've never had an outbreak of any kind.

At my babys first check up his Dr said it looks like you had Strep B and also HPV were you on meds for that, I was like noooo I was never even told I had that! So it must be the one that is cold sores, because I think my Dr would of told me during my pregnancy when they ran the tests, it just really freaked me out!

Oral and genital. Genital herpes can be gotten from oral sex by someone with a cold sore.

Type 1 is cold sores and type 2 is genital. But both can be in either place. Ask the doctor to test for type 1 and 2. I have type 1 (cold sores) on my mouth. I always ask to differentiate when they test me.
