breastfeeding a four year old

Just seeing how other people feel about the whole breastfeeding a four year old... DR phill has an episode about it on today. Opinions?

I don't really have an opinion. I mean, whatever floats your boat.

Fine by me. I couldn't do it though, 16 months was long enough for me and my next I may stop at a year (or possibly go the full 2 years).

Not for me, but it doesn't bother me for others. That is the average that children across the world wean themselves, so whatev!

Not my cup of tea, but if somebody wants to, go for it.

I wouldnt do it, but I don't believe it causes any harm for the child at all. I would rather him drink breast milk out of a cup, if anything....just to avoid stares and rude remarks from my peers and his.

For as long as the mother and child want to is fine. It's only disgusting because we've been told to think that. World weaning age is around 5 if I remember correctly.

the health benefits continue for as long as you nurse. I firmly believe in child led weaning, whether its 1, 2, or 7 years... the average age of natural weaning is 2-7 years... 4 is on the low end of that spectrum.

I'd do it  

I weaned at 2 1/2 and most people think that was way to long.

I feel like if mom and child still want to continue then whatever, but I wouldn't be broadcasting that personally.

I weaned because he wasn't sleeping through the night and it was starting to take its toll on both of us and needed to be changed.

Doesn't affect me and it's not hurting anyone I don't care.

I would never do it, but it's not causing harm to the child so it's none of my business what others do.

My 2.5 year old is still nursing. I can't see myself breastfeeding her at four... but we'll see what happens. I don't have a problem with it at all though.
