Reading during pregnancy

posted 13th Dec
Every night before I go to bed me and my boyfriend each read a story to our daughter. I have a large collection of children books for her already. Out favorite seems to be "Oh Baby The Places You'll Go: A Book to be Read in Utero." Does any other expecting mothers out there like to read to their babies? If so what are some books you like?

It is right side up when I view it. How strange.

My aunt introduced me to 'The Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss. While trying to find it on amazon I found this one. The other would be great for a child already born. I still haven't purchased it yet but will make sure too before Alexis is born.

I know this sounds crazy but I believe it makes a difference. maybe it does, maybe it doesnt but who really knows...
I read to my DS in utero (13yrs ago) twice a day and talked to him all day long, now he is 12 years old, in the 7th grade (testing on 9th to 10th grade level) and taking the S.A.T in January (a program through Duke University)....no kidding
My DD was the same but she is only 2 yrs old. She is starting out developmentally ahead just like my son so IMO-it makes a huge difference.

Glad to hear that it has had a educational impact on your children. That is my goal as well. I am all about educating my daughter and giving her the best start in life I can. I have already discussed with her father that there is to be no video games or anything that can harm her ability to develop educationally. I want us to spend time as a family giving her every advantage we can.

I actually started my DS in pre-k workbooks just for fun around 2 1/2 to 3 and will soon be doing the same for DD and I believe that also impacted the education. Children's brains are literally like sponges, they take in and process so much at one time it amazes me. I dont understand the people that say a child wont remember something they hear.

I try to read a story to my baby everyday but sometimes I can't. I just read The 3 Little Pigs today. I have A LOT of children's books from my shower because I asked people if instead of cards if they could get us their favorite children's story and almost every person did.
