Pros & Cons of Cloth Diapers ?
posted 13th Dec
I haven't really decided whether I want to use cloth diapers , It's one of those things I never really looked into. I was talking to my mother yesterday and she says that I should take that route. But I don't know.. She said she used them with me .. my best friend said she would dare use them. lol. No offense to the mommies that do. But I don't know. So I was wondering if any mommies had any suggestions or could give me some info. Why'd you decide to use them or not ?

I had to use them for a while with my son because he had an allergy to disposable ones(that claimed to be hypoallergenic). Once the reaction rash had cleared, I went back to huggies and he was fine. There is a definite convenience factor with disposables, because once they're dirty they are just thrown away. With cloth, if they are cleaned properly, then cost wise they are much cheaper, and there aren't the chemicals in them that are in the absorbent material in disposables. Ultimately, it will come down to personal preference.

I plan to use cloth with this next one. Less $, never need to worry about running out of diapers, not to mention, theyre cute!
Disposables are a lot less work, but they also stink. We cant put our trash out until trash day because of dogs/raccoons getting into it outside, so by the end of the week there is a funk in the room where we keep the trash.

Cloth diapering would save more money in the long run and wouldn't have the chemicals that disposables do. I use disposable though, obviously less upkeep and less messing with poop.

We tried to do it with our oldest son...It got gross.
And as soon as you have more than one child it's just plain inconvenient.

If you work full-time and will be putting the child in daycare most daycares only accept disposables. You could buy a few cloth diapers and see if you like them.. they are very expensive.

We cloth diapered from newborn until 21 months when she started to potty train. We loved it, my SO was even on board and helped. We spent only 250.00 on diapers, and maybe. 100 on wipes because I made cloth wipes as well.

We are doing cloth with this baby. I don't mind the extra work for a savings of $2k +....you don't have to rinse the diaper out until they start solids. OP a lot of places offer rental programs so you can try it out before investing in it. If its not for you then its not for you.

I did disposables with my twins and will be using cloth with this one.
Biggest Pro-money. We just bought a house so we're saving anywhere we can.
2. They are adorable and much better for babies bum. Sposies gave mt son rashes.
3. never running out of diapers.
Cons-less convienent than sposies.
more laundry. I was everyday to every other day anyway so its not a big deal to me.
Dealing with poop. Eh I used to be a CNA and deal with adult smurf so baby smurf is nothing to me.
