christmas presents

ok so, is it quantity or quality? we got my kids a 3DS XL, 2 games, a protector case and each kid is getting a $20 toy. so, each kid gets 5 gifts, but we've spent close to 300 on each kid(3 kids) i feel like, yeah its cool they are getting a DS like they wan but what about the other toys? i mean, we've spent a crapload but only on 15 gifts.

what would you do? somebody said go to the dollar store and get little things. idk

as an 8 or 6 y/o would you be satisfied with a DS and 2 games?

But yeah little kids tend to expect more so maybe just some cheap little gifts.
But on the other hand you want to teach them it's not all about gifts.

Quality over quantity, for sure! I think what you have is great.  

I grew up an only child and spoiled as hell during Xmas so I'll have to say no. Do they get other presents from family or is it just you guys? I know Xmas isn't about presents blah blah blah but for me it always was. I think considering you have 3 kids its enough.

I would buy a couple cheap gifts. Like a little etch a sketch or something. Especially something to put in their stockings.

*shrugs* I'm sure they will be pretty excited about getting a ds. My niece was last year and she was seven! :-) but the dollar tore does have some pretty cool stuff for kids that age.

Seriously? They better be satisfied! I think kids get too much for Christmas nowadays. DS 4 is gettin a basketball hoop and a couple small toys from us and DD is getting a toddler bed and a couple small toys. They will each get a stocking with a few nick knacks, DVDs and some candy as well.

Quality.
If you get them anything else all they are going to want to play with is the 3DS anyway.

My little sister got a DS for christmas last year and it is all she plays with out of everything she got last year.

I only got DD 5 presents this year... 2 big (one from Santa) and 3 smaller ones, and a stocking. She doesn't need more and I put a lot of money into the ones I got. Plus my dad bought her electronics and his Gf bought her games for it.

they are getting stuff from their grandparents and aunts/uncles too. i just dont want them thinking "oh i only got 5 things, my friend got 20!"

My kids only got 3 gifts each from me. A tablet, a case for the tablet, and a pair of sneakers. they'll get spoiled by the rest of my family. I kjnow they'll love their gifts, so I'm not worried about it.

That shouldn't matter- If my kids ever said anything like that I'd take away what they did get. There are pleanty of kids that got nothing so if thy are ungrateful then well pass their stuff along to kids who's family's couldn't afford any gifts this year.

Honestly, right now while my kids are little it's quantity for them. And it's not even that they expect a bunch of toys, they just like ripping open presents. So I got 10 "cheap" gifts each. BUT, my MIL and FIL went and bought a crap ton of toys for them to open from Santa at our house....so now they're going to have that too. Plus whatever the rest of the family gets them....Way too much. lol

I'm sure your children will be happy with what you got them, though! I think the older they get, quality is better. The only other reason I do quantity is because my son is a holy terror and tears up any toys that get in his way...so I'd rather it be cheap toys. lol

I get the quality over quantity but little kids like opening presents perhaps even more than the gifts themselves. Are there some things you could get that they need? Clothes, toothbrushes, other bathroom items etc. My mom still puts that kind of stuff in my stocking, haha.
