Constipation!

Whats the best medicine you have tried for your kids over the counter or prescription for constipation? My son has been taking Miralax but I think his system maybe starting to get used to it? He's had constipation problems since shortly after birth. Hes 4 now..

My daughter has chronic constipation, she's 3 1/2. I give her prune juice or apple juice. She also has to take a powdered mix that we put in her water. It helps her. I forgot what it was called, but her pedi prescribed it.
If she gets on the potty but can't go, we play tug-of-war with a towel. It makes her tighten up her muscles and push it out.

But if it's close to coming out, (like they have to poop, but can't) it's extremely painful for them to have suppositories inserted.

His is AWFUL!!! we have done lots of enemas... in the past.. He was on a prescription powder called Kristalose.. It didnt help as well as Miralax.. But I figured we will just have alter it.. from time to time..

Have you asked his pedi to see if he had any bowel problems?
Our pedi sent us to a specialist for M, but it worked itself out by the second appointment.

Hes been once.. they seem to think he will grow out of it eventually.. I had the same problem from birth to 6 year old! Its a nightmare at times.. getting him to go is so hard sometimes and I know so painful for him   They didnt find anything seriously wrong on the plus side.

Oh wow. Have you tried adding more fiber to his diet? Maybe an additional fiber supplement for kids?

yes! and all the juices.. he loves raisins (and all kinds of fruits) which you think would help.. I just feel bad because we try everything and alot of times end up still having to give him an enema
