Yellow tomato soup

So I want to make this soup from the show The Chew.

(If you look at the recipe I wouldn't be making the jam to go on the grilled cheese sandwiches)

The recipe calls for chicken stock (5 cups), sherry and white wine (1/2 cup of each). I have food stamps and I'm not sure the two are covered on food stamps, and even if they are I'm not sure we can afford them. So. My question is can I just add an extra cup of chicken stock? I will be making it for a Christmas get together on Friday. It's a potluck and I was told not to worry about bringing anything because DH and I were a last minute invite. I feel bad not bringing anything so I want to make this. But I need to know the substitution. So thanks ladies for the help!!

there are websites that can show you what to substitute if you can't get or don't want to use the alcohol. Sherry can generally be substituted with orange juice, not sure about white wine though.

You can't buy the sherry or white wine with food stamps.

I would think so, because usually in recipes you cook off the alcohol anyway.

Alrighty. Another stupid question. Would I just get like normal pineapple or orange juice that I drink?

Yeah, I would go with the cheap brand because that seems more acidicy [sp?].
