Moving long distances for SO

posted 12th Dec
If you were in a comitted relationship (not married or engaged, no kids together and had been together between 9 months to a year) would you move to another state with your SO? The move is from Nevada to Connecticut if that matters.

There is a college you would like to attend but you have been unable to have a job lined up through a couple searches and 3 phone interviews. A FB friend asked her facebook wall their opinion on her upcoming move.

My SO moved from NYC to be with me (in CA). If you feel it's worth it, do it!

I think it depends on whether the person wants to go or not.

If I wanted to go, and felt strongly about the relationship, yes.

If I did not want to go, and didn't feel strongly about the relationship, no.

I wouldnt move, mostly because id feel it was a big risk, like what if he left me and then im stuck with my kid and no kind of income. id make sure i had a secure job before i did anything crazy lol

I did. Except I moved from upstate NY to Connecticut to be with my Fiance. We were not engaged at the time. We had went to college together and had been dating a year and a half. Where in CT are you thinking of moving to?

We did the LD thing for the first 2 years of our relationship got married and then I moved to another country to be with DH. So, yes, I would do it. It all depends on their relationship though. Would I move to another country to be with him as my bf? absolutely not. But I was only 18 when we started dating. It depends on a lot of things actually.. Some would take that risk and some may not.

Not me....it is my mom's best friend's daughter. Her boyfriend was offered a job in CT. She is debating whether to go or not. I wasn't sure what I would do in her situation.

I would've moved to VA to be with my ex when he got stationed there but it didn't work out. My current SO wants me to move with him (4 hrs away) to a different part of PA. I'm hesitant

DH and I were not really even together when he moved from Florida to Alaska to be with me. We had known each other since high school. I had asked him multiple times to move to Alaska just to get him out of the situation he was in. I finally got him to do it. He moved when DD was just 5 months old and assumed the role of daddy. It was a rough transition for both of us at first, but we made it work.

We were in a long distance relationship and saw each other maybe once a year for two years. We've been married 3 1/2 years.

That's a tough one... It was hard enough for me to move from Utah to Australia being married... I guess if we were together long enough and I felt right about it then I would.
