Mirena

posted 12th Dec
Hello! I wanted to talk to someone who has gotten the mirena! I am going in tomorrow for my 6 week post partum checkup and I am planning on getting it put in..but I wanted to hear about it first. How was it getting it put in? Have you had any problems with it? Thanks!

Getting my Mirena in was a piece of cake. No pain what so ever.

I had no periods for a year and a half.

Then I started experiencing mild cramping and periods that lasted about a week and a half which eventually turned into extreme cramping and month long bleeding. Turns out the Mirena was embedded in my uterus and had to be surgically removed.

After TTC for 8 months I got pregnant and miscarried. Then with this pregnancy I have had lots of bleeding due to my complications.

Biggest mistake I ever made.
I gained weight, had crazy moodswings, and it partially came out on it's own.

Then a few months after I got it removed (all the way), it was discovered that I had PCOS, a condition I did not have before Mirena, my periods are 42 days apart and I have killer ovulation cycles that bring me to my knees.
It works different for everyone though.
Good luck!

When I went to get my Mirena inserted the doc asked if I wanted a block, he said its because some women experience cramping and pressure. I didn't want it, and for me it was not bad at all. it was quick and easy. The doc gets this tube looking thing and inserts it right at the opening of your ovaries, (Fallopian tubes) and then uses the sono to see if it has been properly inserted...(Well mine did at least)

But so far, it is great. I haven't experienced any side effects, and i only go once every 2-3 months to check if its still properly in place.

I didn't have problems with the mirena being inserted, but after 3 years, it came out on its own. There is a lining on it that regulates how much of the hormone gets released into your body at one time, and the lining of mine had a hole in it, so it wasn't regulating the hormones. I hated it and was so glad when it came out. I do not plan on getting it again.
