Should I get checked out?

posted 12th Dec
Just got into a minor car accident. Some girl was messing with her phone and rear-ended us. Both LO and I are fine, but I'm wondering if I should get checked out, since I'm pregnant. I feel fine, but we got jolted a little bit. I don't want to be one of those people that rushes to the ER for nothing, though.

Oh, and I'm supposed to be to work in an hour. Thoughts?!

If you don't feel like anything is wrong I think it's okay to go to work. Just tell them that you were in an accident and if you start feeling weird they'll have to let you leave, won't they?

i might get checked out, because I know when i got in a car wreck it wasnt that bad, but later I felt like I got ran over by a truck...and when I finally did go to the ER later they scolded me for not coming in sooner and getting checked...because most of the time you don't feel anything at first

trust me, Im like you and hate being an ER abuser.

We were rear ended in the summer. My son has 2 ribs missing so I went to have him checked out at the ER cause you NEVER know what might show up later etc. So if I were you I would. Or call your Dr or someone and ask what they think?

glad you two are fine!

I don't think my OB's office has an after hours line.

I think you should be fine. And if you go in to the E.R. they'll probably want to do a ct or at least lateral truama spine xrays, and I wouldn't be comfortable with that if I wasn't feeling like anything was wrong.

Yeah, true. I'm just paranoid because I have a history of recurrent miscarriages.

Definitely get checked out, things could show up later..

My husband almost didn't want to go to the hospital after his car was totaled...and I made sure he did.

A few days later, he could barely move, and is STILL experiencing pain from it a month later.

I was in a similar accident at about 16-17 weeks. I felt sore later on, but all was well. If you don't feel comfortable not going, go to ease your mind

A call to your OB wouldn't hurt though.

So sorry that happened. Call your dr. They may want to monitor baby for a few hours. I was rear ended a couple months ago at nearly 50 mph & they had me get checked because of my bp. Having high blood pressure can put you at risk for contractions even if you feel ok. It's best to be safe then sorry!
