And there is definitely no need to rush into it right this second, you have a couple of weeks left, take some time and try to find someone to talk to who is supportive.

You also really need to consider the kind of situation you will have if you do decide to keep it - do you work,are you in school, are you able to get childcare?

When I had my son, I was 19 (18 when I got pregnant) and I can tell you, it was really difficult. I worked full time, I went to college full time and I was a single mom there for a good portion of it. My son will be 4 in March and I still struggle, but not as bad as we were, things are getting better every day, but I had a really good support system in place. My mother was a HUGE help, as was my brother.

This is why you NEED to sit and have a serious heart to heart with your family. See what options are there for you and see what kind of support system you will have. Your boyfriend might also feel very very differently once he knows there is a actual child in question, not just hypothetical.

Are you still in high school by any chance?

Technically, yes but my school offers a program where you get packets of lessons and work and you take it home and do it instead of sitting in a classroom and doing it that way but it's not a GED program I will receive my high school diploma.

My school isn't the best high school to attend so this was a better option for me.

No problem. I know how hard the weight of this decision can be, especially without your SO's support.
Once you come to a decision no matter what it is, you'll feel a lot better. I was faced with this type of decision twice and made a different choice each time. I feel I did the right thing both times.

Well that might help you a lot in your situation. I had gotten my GED when I was 17, so I was already heading to college. I put it off until I actually gave birth and while it was really hard, it was manageable.

If your school sends home work, then you should be able to finish and possibly even start college right after - the college I went to had a daycare that you paid for with tuition, I didn't need it but I know a lot of people who did.

Do either of you work?

Also, you should go and have a pregnancy test done at the health department and they can sign you up for medicaid and help you get on WIC.

I work at my McDonalds.. and my boyfriend works at Sears. They aren't dependable jobs but I never though I'd have to raise a baby off of them.

Brittney, don't let anybody tell you that the choice you make regarding your pregnancy is a bad choice. Whatever you decide, is the right choice for you, and your life. There's so many mothers on this site who were once in your shoes at 18, or even younger. Some of them chose adoption, some chose abortion, and others chose to parent. You should stick around because there's a great support system here for you.

Well, I worked at a grocery store while I was a single mom in college and also at McDonalds at one point - so yeah, I totally get where you are coming from. It sucked, but I did things to make it work. I was able to live with my parents - we made arrangements that made it beneficial to both of us. I paid bills there, took my father to his many doctors appointments, helped out with the other kids - and they let me stay there and my dad watched my son while I worked. Maybe your parents would be willing to work something like that out with you? At least until you can move onto a high paying job.

Also, if you work at McDonalds, you will qualify for Medicaid, WIC, and Food Stamps, which will all help. It's not ideal, for sure, but as long as you use it as a way to step up and move on to something better and not just sit on it, there isn't any shame in needing help. Hell - I am a full time employee for the county schools and I have a salary and I STILL get medicaid for pregnancy since I don't make a lot and my benefits don't cover everything.

You should make a list of everything to do and tackle them one at a time so you don't feel so overwhelmed. Start with tell your boyfriend and talking to your parents.

I was in your situation, when I was 16. My bf told me to have an abortion, I refused and now we are still together 8 years later going on our fourth child. Just tell him and he'll get over it eventually. If not you may have to raise a child by yourself..good luck!!
