re: Depression meds, your experience?

I know this thread is dead now but I wanted to shared that I'm feeling similar. I sit around a lot, unfortunately my household duties are neglected more often than not. I am way too stressed all of the time over everything and it feels like I dread getting up and dealing with everything...every day. I'm depressed about my body but I'm struggling with motivation and self control so I can't even lose the weight like this. I've noticed that I want to drink nearly every night and I've never felt that way in the past...ever.

I am not so willing to take pills for this though, I'm thinking about self medicating with weed. I know it makes me feel completely different... I get happy and actually want to spend time with my girls rather than referee from the couch. I have been ignoring this feeling but I think I'm starting to realize that it is depression   .

I have a neighbor who was self medicating with weed until about 2 weeks ago when he tried slashing his wrists. He just got out of the hospital, but those scars are forever.

He was very up front with the doc about his attempt to self medicate, and straight up told his mom to take his stash because it is NOT good for people with serious depression problems.
