Junk food! Help!

posted 12th Dec
Hey everybody... I'm in my 3rd trimester, and I know this is stupid to START worrying about. My blood sugar was a "little high" on my one hour glucose test. So I just took the 3 hour one about a week ago, and I was good. At 31 weeks, Ive gained a total of 23 pounds so far.. no problems through this pregnancy, no swollen anything. I'm drinking a ton of water, making sure I'm eating healthy meals and getting protein and taking my vitamins. BUT...as far as snacks go, my pregnancy cravings are all SWEET. I have a bowl of sugary cereal atleast once a day. I have a stash of chocolate candies that I definitely have a few of a day. I indulge in soda on occasion as well. Im not eating a gallon of ice cream or anything like that, but I do indulge on occasion. But EVERY day I have something sweet. Im thinking to myself, am I going overboard without even knowing it? Should I be concerned that I'm endagering my baby's blood sugar? It would make me happy if I heard that other women were eating similarly and had healthy babies. But I'm looking for honesty, so lets have it.

I ate a half gallon of ice cream everyday for 4 months when I was pregnant with DD. Granted, I have low blood sugar to begin with, but she was born a healthy 8lbs with no medical problems.

I ate exactly the same I think this was why my baby measured small in first trimester and shot up to 9Ib when she was born at 1 week early, My midwife said lots of sugar can make your baby big but i don't know, I was expected to have a 6Ib baby. I wouldn't worry about it!   xx

AHHH   How did you know I wanted to hear that. lol I hope so, but now Im concerned about pushing out a 9lb'er . No Im sure she will be great. I just heard a horror story of a girl who's baby was in the ICU because she ate so much sugar during her pregnancy the baby wasnt able to produce insolin on its own.

I'd say you only need to worry if you are eating sweets like, all day every day and that is all you eat. I had cereal every day while pregnant, too. Some cereal and a few candies shouldn't harm your baby.
