Meatballs

posted 12th Dec
Here is a favorite recipe that I am sharing with everyone today.

For the very yummy meatballs. I make these for potlucks/christmas/new years etc....everyone loves them to death. lol I usually make 3 big pots and we run out by the end of the night. lol

I make my own meatballs but you could use store bought.

Ground beef
egg
salt/pepper
chives
garlic
italian bread crumbs
ketchup
a tiny bit of milk.

form balls.

Cook in a pot with some extra virgin olive oil.
Add in a jar of heinz homestyle sweet and chunky chilli sauce and 1 jar of concords grape jelly.

Now I am not sure of mesurements on anything lol I never messure at all, and been making these for yrs. lol Amount of sauce will dpend on amount of meatballs you are making, or go by taste add a little of the jelly at a time and go from there for taste. lol

Its really good and super yummy. My kids fill up on these all night long. lol

1 egg, 1/2 cup bread crumbs, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 pepper.

As for the other stuff-- eww. Lol. I also use water instead of milk and saltine crackers instead of bread crumbs. I don't use chives or garlic (barfff!) and I don't use ketchup. What I add to it is dependent upon who I'm making them for, lol.

Meatballs are also better baked, not cooked in a pot.

it's actually really common to add grape jelly to meat balls. It's REALLY good.

Is it just one of those 'it sounds moderately gross' but actually tastes good things? I just can't imagine pairing meatballs with grape jelly lol

When I do my homemade ones I bake them and make the sauce separate (because Patton likes them with no sauce and so does my sister). I wouldn't put jelly in them tho, ever, just doesn't sound good at all

The first time isaw grape jelly I thought it was gross, but you dont taste it at all. Its a sweet and spicy flavor to them with the chilli sauce. Its really good and they are appaitizer meatballs and nothing more then that. lol

Although my kids eat them on buns with cheese. lol
