Newborn Question

How much and how often does your newborn eat? My baby is one week old and I'm a new mom, just wondering what's average. When should I wake her up to eat? Or should I just let her eat on demand?

Let her sleep, she'll wake when she's hungry.

I was always told don't wake a sleeping baby   they will wake to eat when hungry  

My son is 3 weeks old. He eats a good 5-12 times a day for 10-30 minutes or more each time(he's breastfed) I don't wake him up to eat though. When I was still in the hospital the nurses had me wake him to make sure he was eating at least 8 times a day but now that we're home I don't do it because he wakes up when he's hungry. Plus he eats longer than he did in the hoapital
