Call your inlaws and see how they would handle something like that. But dont break her phone, she shouldnt have done that but dont stoop to a 12 year olds level.

When I was about that age my parents punished me by making me sit at the kitchen table without ANYTHING around me. No books, homework, literally nothing. It drove me crazy. Pretty good punishment, IMO.

But that still won't fix your laptop.  

Can you sell her phone?   I wouldn't be letting her touch any of my stuff in the future.

send her back to be with her parents noone would treat my stuff like that and get away with it and i would sell her phone and when shes still there not watching tv or anything just school dinner shower chores and bed

i definitely see that a thorough talking-to is in order. but let's not get hasty. kids get pissed and break things and it's up to the adults to turn that into a lesson to learn from
