SHARPIES on tshirts?

posted 11th Dec
Or rather, onesies.

We were going to make a bunch of our own for baby three,
and i was looking into fabric markers, but even the good ones, have bad reviews,
i was reading that sharpies work just as well (we'd be using fine point) and that it takes a long time for them to fade.
(granted these wouldn't even be getting really dirty, they'd be on a newborn)

But then i remembered the "bake sharpie on ceramic" stuff, and that came off even with handwashing, so i don't know what to believe.

Sooo...anyone know anything about this?
Or suggestion on fabric pens?

i was reading about it and it was saying if you dry the clothing first, then do it, it won't. i don't know if i believe it though.

I have shirts from middle school that I wrote on with sharpies and the writing is still there. Wash the shirt first then do it

I *think* I remember hearing something about using hairspray to stop the sharpie from fading or something?
Idk, I'm pretty curious about this too though.

well from my experience with my son writing all over our clothes with sharpies..they don't fade quickly...I'd say as quick as tiedye ink does.

It should stay. Don't u remember the days when everyone signed everyone's shirts?!?! It's diff than using it on ceramic. The glazed stuff doesn't absorb the color. Fabric absorbs color.

But one cool thing we did once at a training was used black sharpie them
Put rubbbing alcohol on it and it turned rainbow ish.

yeah, that's what i read. and then pop it in the dryer when you're done to set it.

*Icat-- that's what i meant, to dry immediately after, not before
