And because of her suicide, it ripped your family apart, which is even more terrible. It's not right to look down on ANYONE for who they choose to love and marry.

August 2011. We were a poly family, her family hated it, still hates it and vehemently insists her daughter wasn't gay.

Yeah, people like BlessedInsanity who don't see how much their views CAN and DO hurt others bother me a LOT.   I'm sorry for your loss...

It certainly has - we've been in a custody battle from hell with her mother for almost a year now.

Seriously - I can't wrap my head around people who think that homophobia doesn't "hurt" people.

Her family will now have to live with that forever. I couldn't imagine the pain of being disowned and shunned from the people I love.

I am a firm believer in karma. They will get theirs. I hope you and James win custody over the kids. They don't need to be raised in a hateful environment.

Seriously - I mean, they ARE pretty extreme, their racist too....which blows my mind that they would WANT the kids because they are Hispanic like their dad.

I've noticed that the people who are homophobic are also some of the same people who are racist. Homophobia and racism go hand and hand it seems.

I've noticed the exact same thing. It's pretty f'd up that people still have those reservations this day and age.
