I'm in nursing school too and the fact you would leave a person in a burning building for being drunk disturbs the hell out of me. Clearly you don't have too much hands on experience in the hospitals or you would be more compassionate than that.

I'm in the hole on my rent right now cuz of medical bills, and if my roommate/landlord weren't so nice I would be homeless right now. I have no family here and my bf lives with HIS family so I couldn't live with him just yet.

And it is correct that the homeless have a larger percent of mentally ill people and addicts.

Yea. I lost my apartment do to be being hospitalized so if I didn't have my family I would be screwed.

Roughly 30% have mental illnesses, around 50+% are addicts. I never said anything about mental illnesses, but no... I have no sympathy for someone that's going to piss their life away with drugs and alcohol anyway

And you say you want to study psychology and be a nurse?

Do you not realize that as a nurse, you are going to be interacting with addicts/alcoholics very often, assuming you work in the hospital? I'm sure they are going to want someone compassionate.

I have a hard time believing that anyone that is capable of movement would willingly stay in a burning building and allow themselves to burn to death. The survival instinct is too strong.

This whole argument seems moot.
