Food Stamps && WIC

posted 11th Dec
SO currently receives food stamps $200 a month which really aint smurf but hey its helps a whole lot!!! They also think he lives at home with no job because he did only recently maybe 4 months ago get a job & we know they will be cut off as soon as his next apt rolls around which will be any day. I applied once and got denied because they said I made like $100 to much. Since then I gotten pregnant and have gone online to do some research and even with me being pregnant && paying all bills $800 rent and a $180 car payment (which I dont think they consider anyways) I still make to much. The lady at SS said anything over $1100 a month is to much. Well I make maybe $1200 on a good month. Then I went to the WIC website and it says I qualify for that. I just dont really understand how they determine that I make to much for EBT but not to much for WIC. I'm great full i at least may get WIC but I hear all these stipulation on the food you can choose from with WIC. I have my first apt on Thursday maybe she'll be able to answer some more questions for me....

EBT is just money is a card that is specifically for food..WIC is a list of things you can get and they tell you what brands and what ever they say is okay and only certain places accept it...EBT is almost everywhere.

Wic and fs are two completely different things. Wic almost always approves people. Here if your annual income is under 40k, you qualify. But you also get more with fs than wic bc wic is only supplemental.

I make too much for food stamps...even when it was just me and my husband when i was unemployed. I now work part tine and I qualify for wic. they base it off 2 totally different incomes making it easier for pregnant women and children to get healthier foods.

From what I understand, WIC is the easiest to get.

I would be completely truthful with them though, being brought up on fraud would be the last thing anyone needs.

!!!!!
We qualify for WIC but we manage just fine without it so I prefer to go and apply because I feel like i'm taking away from someone who really does need it.
We make to much for FS.

You're supposed to report changes in income/work right away. And I'm only getting wic right now because I live with my parents

Yep, sometimes they garnish your wages or tax return to pay that stuff back.

WIC is women infants and children (i think lol) almost all pregnant women or women with children qualify unless you make a pretty decent amount of money.

If you can't afford food, maybe you need to down grade what you pay for rent. EBT is to buy general food. WIC is only for pregnant women and children up to their 5th birthday, it is very limited on what you get.

WIC Has a really high income limit so even making good money you can qualify. My husband made $18 an hour & we qualified when we had one child. So you should. You dont get extra money for food stamps when your pregnant because you dont really have to eat as much as pregnant person usually does. Also you are supposed to report income within 10 days so when they get his paychecks stubs you will probably have to pay back the 4 months you have been receiving benefits you were not really entitled to. But it depends on what state you live in.

WIC has a really high income limit, It's a nutritional program they want to teach you and your kids to eat healthy.
