What would you do?

DS started preschool last Tuesday after a year of struggling to get him services I finally got a lawyer and he got him in. DS is autistic/adhd along with some sensory issues and the school testing also said Aspergers was also likely. (He needed/s speech and occupational therapy they refused to give a year ago) He's now almost 5 (in May) and he doesn't talk very well or that much. He's been excited to go to school until yesterday and today. I always ask him questions about how his day was, what did he do, did he make friends, who did he play with, was anybody mean to him, etc. since he doesn't just come out and start conversations/telling me stuff   and I'm curious of what goes on. Well, today I asked "was anybody mean to you?" He replied "Yes." Then I said "Who was mean to you?" He got loud and replied "Mrs. his teachers name." I said "How was Mrs. his teachers name mean to you?" He then hid inside his jacket and stopped talking to me... What would you do about this situation?

IMO it's not good to put this in their head. I mean, I ask my Son if his friends are nice and if he has fun with them and does he enjoy having Miss Stephanie as a teacher, etc. but to flat out ask if someone was "mean"....IDK, I just don't think you will get accurate results only because kids are so sensitive that "mean" could be reprimanding them -when they needed to be.

I would try asking again and go talk to the teacher about it

Having a very similar child I would ask the questions differently. I have to pull teeth to get my son to tell me stuff about his day.
Try asking questions like
How was your day? Was it a fun day?!
What did your teacher teach you today
What games did you play?
What did you and your friends talk about?
What did your teacher talk to you about?

If he seemed upset start off with that- you seem a little down? Are you not feeling well? That usually gets te problem out for me

He never did tell me what happened, but today on the way to school (no conversation whatsoever) he said I don't want to go to school, I'm scared of school...then we got there and I dropped him off I was walking out and he grabbed me and started running out of the class with me and started crying whenever the teacher pulled him back into class...(he always just stays and starts talking/playing)

That's never easy. There are a couple kids in my sons class who do that at times. Have you asked for a day you can visit the class? My sons friend did this and the mom came to visit and it needed up being that te teacher just was firm in what se expected and did not baby the girl. I know it's not always the case but going to visit would be a good start
