So confused.......Miscarriage or No?

My sister is currently pregnant with her first child she is only 14 weeks along and she had bleeding today after intercourse.
Shortly after she had a small blood clot come out.
She started freaking out we went to the E.R her doc told her to bring the clot in.
We went to te E.R, they ran a whole bunch of tests on her and the baby is okay and still in there...... Super relieved
But they do not know what the clot is yet, they believe she was having twins and that was one of them.....
Has this ever happened to someone? They weren't really helpful in the E.R with our questions...

i doubt it was a twin, her cervix would be open and they'd know. It was probably a piece of old uterine lining from implantation.

Wow, no never heard of that, but they need to find out, if she is 14 weeks that's pretty far along to have a random twin fall out of her uterus, sounds like the doc didn't feel like examining much and came up with that excuse.... Sorry

They said it looked like her cervix might have opened when they did her exam but on her ultrasound it was closed..... thtas why were confused..... I think ur right maybe she came up with an excuse.... and thank u

Could be. I've definitely heard of twins spontaneously aborting. She needs to take it easy though

Well I hope thats what it was I guess we wont know for sure until tommorow when we get her results that they are running on what the clot was........

With my second daughter I bled a little and passed a small clot around 6 weeks and they said it was a threatened miscarriage.

I agree it's probably a piece of old uterus lining, or a bit of placenta.
Was she checked for Placenta Previa? or a Sobchorionic[sp?] hematoma?
If she lost a twin I'm pretty sure it would hurt and there would be a lot of blood. but I am no expert, however.
I'd take it easy for sex and heavy lifting for a while if I were here.

Sex can irritate the cervix and it is not beyond the realm of possibility for the clot to have been coagulated blood shed from her cervix from intercourse. I wouldn't be buying into the twin theory at this stage. Also could be a clot from a SCH that has finally resolved itself.

All they told her ws no sex, take it easy, and if more bleeding occured to come back.....
They said she wasn't having the syptoms of a miscarriage like a fever, heavy bleeding, nausea, etc...
It was just some bleeding and a clot

Yes I carried her to term. I had to just take it easy for a while.
