being induced this weekend. :/

posted 11th Dec
Well, i will be 38 weeks on friday and for over a month i have had the symptoms of Pre-e. Headache, pitting edema, high blood pressure and am starting to show protein in my urine. After begging them to take my complaints seriously, and a month of getting them to accurately test me for it, turns out i was right and i knew i had it. So, i am going to be induced this weekend. I am excited to see my baby, but scared as hell at the same time. End rant.

I was induced for pre-e. Glad they finally listened to you. I had a fast and easy labor. I hope the same for you!!!   Good luck.

Best of luck!

I had an amazing experience with my induction (it was started at 37 weeks, 5 days, she was born at 38 weeks). It was similar to my ideal birth experience (except I had an IV and I was at the hospital  ). I stayed out of bed, even laboured in the tub because my midwives use a wireless monitor. I had planned on a natural birth and did not even think about asking for pain medication during my labour. I did have a fantastic doula though  .

I am very scared of needles too. Getting the IV was by far the worst part of the labour/birth.

I have problems with anxiety and years ago, went to a psychologist to help. He had me pay attention to the way my body was reacting to the anxiety (sweaty palms, increased heart beat, dizziness, etc), it really helps reduce the anxiety. It does take some practice though.

I feel bad for my friend who had a 14 pounder in August. Sadly he died tho bc they didnt monitor her gd the way they should have. That's why i have been up my doctors ass.

I just saw a friend in the hospital who had bypass surgery and she had an epidural and yeah that smurf looked painful.

For me, it isn't the feeling, it's the idea of it.

But, being scared of needles (and other medical things) forced me to learn more my alternatives for birth. I'm so glad it did, I really enjoyed my birth experiences and I think they have made me a stronger, more confident person.

Edit: Stronger and more confident then I was before, not then anyone else  .
