dd has been sick for over a month with a bad cough... we brought her in 2 days ago and the doc said it might be early stages of pneumonia or bronchitis.. and if not better by today to bring her in... well this morning and all last night she had a horrible cough and was even blueish... i brought her in and now they said she thinks she might have whooping cough but cant be sure because she already started zythromax.... why the eff didnt the test this on sunday when they took her blood?! now i have to be tested because iv had the same cough for over a month too!! i have seen over 6 doctors, been to the hospital twice and no one knows whats going on. the doc on sunday said if she got worse that they would have me go to boston childrens hospital to get a better idea of whats going on but this doctor didnt think its was necessary... im at a loss for words. i just want her to be better. i mean... can i even bring her to the family christmas party (on christmas)? theres going to be another baby her age there and other young children?

she hasn't been immunized for pertussis(sp?) cuz if not, that's most likely it. Tey should have gone by her immunization records.

I would take her to the ER at the Children's hospital. That's what I did with DS when he was sick and I never could get answers.

Unless she's over the sickness, you shouldn't bring her around other children.... whooping cough is contagious and can be dangerous to small children.

i just wasnt sure if once she finishes the zythromax it would be safe... usually whenever you finish a antibiotic its no longer contagious.
