Gizzy doesn't hiss either! Which is why I was shocked when they called me saying he was hissing at them and hiding underneath the couch. The only time I've heard him hiss is when I come up behind him and scare him, lol. And my sister got him to hiss/growl at her... because she was running at him and making loud noises     But he's not mean, just playful. I don't understand why he was hissing at them. I mean I think I know why, but it was just so out of character for him.

And yeah. That was another big thing -- not knowing if he'd be okay or if they'd get tired of him and just put him outside or take him to a shelter   Scares me.

Yep! He was only gone for an hour   He was hissing and swatting at the new people. But I'm glad I got him back... when I picked him up, none of his stuff had been set up and they weren't going to set any of it up (his litter box, food, etc) until the morning

THEY gave him back. No I did not yank him back   They called and told me to come get him, so I did.

You had to do what you felt was right. You didn't seem real confident about your choice to give him away anyways. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but hope you can figure out whatever is best.

I was uncomfortable about it happening so quickly. I had never met the people... they seemed nice, but I didn't know for sure. And once I went over to their apartment and saw how trashed they have it (not just cluttered, but trashed)... and the fact that they weren't going to set out food/water or his litter box until morning, yeah... validated any thought I had about giving him away to a stranger

Our humane society is pretty much no-kill. They don't euthanize to prevent reaching capacity, etc. I may call there and get more information and see what the average length of time for a cat of his age stays there for before being adopted, etc.
I just feel like, it sucks, and it may be bare minimum, but they'll feed him and they'll make sure he has a clean litter box.
And they have a thing where you can play with the cats online, they have a toy hooked up to their internet or something crazy like that, so you can move the toy around, from the computer, and watch the cats on camera play with it.

Well, one of the places around her has that, at least. I can't find it now

S, I posted last night about DH schedule and a little tangent. Anyway - he came home from work last night and I guess he got approval from two main bosses about his shift change and he's waiting on the main boss to approve it. So please pray and/or send good thoughts our way. He's been on swings since May 2007 and we would really like him home more.... Really trying to not get my hopes up. But, it's really really hard....

I almost did. Little bitch was growling at my kids. We met with a trainer/behavioral person and she is doing much better now. Don't feel bad. At least you didn't set the animal <didn't read the type> to wander homeless And hungry.
