Teething and teeth coming in at 8 months & 14 days old

posted 11th Dec
My daughter is 8 months & 14 days olds and finally getting her two bottom teeth coming in and thankfully I set a dentist appointment for her Thursday
I've been using baby orajel and baby tylonel in case of fever/pain
Is there anything else I could use ?
How can I prevent teething marks ? (she hasn't started yet)

just use teethers and tylenol. You dont really need to go to the dentist, shes just teething.

Uh yeah. Some dentists like to see children when they get their first tooth. My kids have been going since 9 and 13 months old.

OP, don't use orajel, its terrible for gums. Only use the tylenol when you absolutely have to. You can only give them medication for so long. Try Hyland's teething tablets. They work instantly and they aren't meds. Frozen fruit in a mesh is also great to let her chew on to soothe her gums. The coldness from the fruit will "numb" them.

what is a dentist going to do about her teeth coming in? its natural.. youre doing the right stuff. unfortunately theres not much else you can do. maybe freeze some apple sauce on a cloth and let her chew on it. but yea a dentist appt isnt needed

Teething tablets are a god send. And I agree about the tylenol. I only medicate when the baby is just absolutely miserable and no relief has been achieved otherwise.

Its not uncommon. Never heard of a pediatric dentist before? The earlier you get them in, the better. That way, they can get use to being in the chair, the lights and someone digging around in their mouth. My kids didn't get an official cleaning until they were 2 years old but before then, they were going regularly.

When I called the dentist office they said to bring her in that way they can look at her teeth as just give me advice on how to take care of her teeth and normally the child is supposed to be going to their first dentist visit when they get their first tooth/teeth

I didn't think there was any need to go until 2, but...now maybe we should make DD an appointment for the day DS goes since he has to go back soon.

She's 18 months...close enough

This. If anything, its good to get them in for the reasons I listed and for preventative reasons.

My kids' dentist doesn't take new kids in until they have their two year molars. Before that, they say it's just a waste of time and money because all they will do is polish their teeth and see that they are coming in properly. But even if they aren't, they cant do anything about it at that age.
And try freezing big chunks of watermelon, canteloupe, cucumber, or things like that and let her gnaw on them. The cold helps sooth their gum. I didn't even bother putting it in those gross mesh things. I just kept an eye on them and made sure hey didn't break a big piece off. Also, amber teething necklaces are wonderful.
No more orajel, it's terrible for their gums and it's a choking hazard.

Oh ok
I don't give my daughter the baby tylonel and baby orjael alot only when needed or I see that she's in pain
