Target Portrait Studio

posted 11th Dec
Went to get pictures taken at Target, expected a bit more from them than say, Walmart.. because they charge $150 just for the CD alone. First they told me 6pm on the phone, we got there and were told it was 6:30, we then waited until 7:30 to be seen (which that in itself I was not completely upset about it's the holidays, I expected a wait) but then I was APPALLED that the woman took 18 photos total, 3 of which either LO's eyes were closed or not ready at all for the photo. I would never recommend them at all no matter what kind of coupon you have. If I'm going to pay hundreds of dollars (because that's what it would have been if we wanted to get anything printed) I would rather go to a real studio where they will take more than 15 photos for that price!

When I lived in a different state I went to a studio that charged the same and they took 50+ photos, the photographers would just snap away and were so great. Not all of the pictures came out great, but with that many you got a lot of good ones. on the CD.

We got a couple of good ones of LO, but for that price I would expect more than 5 decent photos and NEVER go back or recommend them.

Ohhh no. If I was paying $150 for a photo session, they had better be good quality shots.

Target has a portrait studio?! None around here do!

I always do JCP. There's usually a coupon for a free sitting fee and an 8x10, and all sheets are just $4 unless you want a fancier one, which range from $10-24. I don't think they're bad at all.

And last month (obviously this doesn't help you, but..) they had free sitting fees for the whole family and an 8x10...the coupons are always a free sitting fee for ONE person and 9.99 for each additional. So we got ours done, they turned out real nice.

i used to work at walmart portrait studio. its owned by sears. we were only allowed to take 20 photos, thats all the card would hold. the cd is pricey, but thats only without prints, the price is less with different packages.

with that being said, portrait innovations is still one of tbe best. they do 3 shots of each pose, that way you can choose the best, and about 20 to 30 poses. i got a package of about about 12 poses on 36 sheets (dif sizes) and the cd for 170.

Well all I wanted was the CD really, because I wanted to edit the photos before printing them up.
And for the price Target was charging I assumed we would get a lot of photos on the CD.

Why is Walmart portrait studio owned by sears? Doesn't make sense considering K-Mart and Sears are the same company, but K-Mart has Olan Mills portrait studios. Odd..

if thats all you want, you are better off getting an amatuer photographer to do it. you only need sales experience to work at a portrait studio. lookmon craigslist in the artists or kids area and lookmfor student photogs. alot will chargr less than 50 for a session and CD. just check tbe quality before you buy.

Portrait Innovations is where I went when I lived in KY, they would just snap away and I'd end up with a CD with TONS of photos. For around the same price as Target... and from all the packages I saw at Target, the CD wasn't much cheaper with prints.

I wish we had a Portrait Innovations near where we are now.

you need to realize that such small studios like target and walmart, unfortunately the photographers have rules and restrictions.. like they have to sometimes take certain pics in certain orders, and can only take so many. if they have time and can get away with it yea they can take more pictures but can sometimes get in trouble for doing so. but yea she should have paid more attention to detail and before going onto the next shot, made sure your lo's eyes were open in the pictures and whatnot.

Kind of wanted it in a studio... and like I said, I had used Portrait Innovations before and always loved them... I know it wouldn't be the same thing, but with the prices being similar I expected a similar experience.
