Days and Nights mixed (Puppy help)

posted 11th Dec
So, Santa brought a Christmas present earlier than planned but anyways the kiddos got a new puppy and we've had him for 2 days and he hasn't been that bad. My problem though: he wants to play at night and sleep during the day. How do I break this? Last night he did the puppy cry until DH put him in our bed. I wasn't happy with that because I don't want the dog to get used to sleeping in our bed then I may have the LO and our soon to be 4 yr old (she sleeps with us rarely) in bed with me. How can I break this puppy? TIA for all the advice. Sorry if it sounds everywhere my mind is scattered brained from lack of sleep.

We kept our dog up all day when she was puppy waking her up and playing. Long walks before your going go to bed. Then put her in area you want her in and most likely after a week she'll get use to the schedule you have set up for her.

Be consistent. Your husband needs to be on board. Dogs do not belong in beds (unless its a dog bed) or on furniture. Period. Don't ever allow them in your bed or on your couch. They will start to think that they are equal to you.

As for the days and nights being mixed up, how old is this puppy? I've never had that issue with a dog and we got ours at 7-8 weeks and 9 weeks.

The problem with DH and I is we grew up differently with pets. My dogs were NEVER allowed on any furniture and only allowed in certain rooms. NEVER my moms room (she has a room at our home when she stays in KY). I do not mind the dog in our room. Our dogs were to stay in the living room or kitchen. My dog was allowed to sleep on my bed only with me (but that was forever ago I was like 10 yrs old).

DH and his pets were allowed to lay wherever even now his mother has a dog and has the brother to ours well she allows them to lay on the couch, her bed, and if we don't keep our bedroom door shut at our room (which her dog drags out trash from bathrooms). When they had a cat and his niece was a baby the cat was allowed in the crib (that's a no no to me).

He turned 6 weeks on Saturday. He is the only dog I've had this issue with. All my puppies growing up weren't like this.

Thanks, I will try that tonight. My kids played with him for almost an hour last night before bed well "quiet time".

Oh he's still very young, that's probably why he's having issues. Hopefully you and your husband can come to a common ground. I don't allow our puppy upstairs (where the bedrooms) are either.
