No its not very strict, I only eat 1200 calories so I just try to make them count by eating whatever I can that is the most filling with the lowest calories. Lots of veggies, lean meats (fish/chicken) nothing fried.
An average day for me would be
2 packets oatmeal or 2 egg whites and whole wheat toast for breakfast
Chicken breast on a sandwhich thin no mayo no cheese or a salad for lunch
And a lean meat, veggie and one starch/carb for dinner.
Fruit or veggies for snacks or those 100 calorie granola bars and water to drink.
