Is this normal/ okay?

posted 11th Dec
My 4 month old is sleeping through the night (yay ) without waking to eat, but during the day he 'grazes' all day and eats every 2 or 3 hours. He is FF and is 96th percentile in length and weight so I know he's getting enough to eat, and I am constantly trying to get him to eat an extra ounce or two so that he goes longer in between feedings, but to no avail. He just likes to have small bottles, I guess. As a newb, he would nurse just about every hour. Sometimes 2 hours.
Is this normal? Is it okay or should I be putting more effort into spacing out his feedings more?
TIA

I think it's normal. My niece was like that. She slept through the night but ate a lot during the day. She was a little chunk too and perfectly healthy.

A newborn nursing every hour or two is normal. I think following a baby's lead when feeding is what matters most. You don't want to actually try to get him to take more less often for any benefit of his health & eating every 2-3 isn't all that bad. Most breastfed babies never go longer than that...some do, but most of not, most (not all) eat every 2ish.

Thanks ladies   That's what I thought. I've pretty much just followed his signals when it comes to feedings, but I'm a FTM and there are people around me giving unsolicited advice about how big he is and how much/often he feeds. I started to worry needlessly.

Don't listen to the voices from OUTSIDE your head - stick to the ones INSIDE your head & you'll be fine.
