Thanks ladies. I know for a fact he has left the state. I am just terrified he will try and come back in her life one day when she is happy and well take care of. I need to just figure out what to do to ease my mind.

This guy beat me every chance he got, abused every drug there is and wouldn't even go near my daughter.

I didn't mean just his criminal record. He has another child that he does not have custody of. That plays a role in it.

Yes he does have a child he doesn't have custody of(or at least had signed over to his dad) and he has left the state.

I have everything. We have never gone to court but I am the only parent on the BC and everything.

He has never even acknowledged her as his daughter to anyone.

in your situation you man want to talk to a lawyer . You may want to establish full legal custody so the SD can not screw anything up and waltz in and out of her life as he pleases

Yeah I was thinking about it. Just trying to come up with funds to be able to see a lawyer :-/

That has nothing to do with that child... he signed away his rights to the other child, he hasn't signed away his right to this child... so he still has rights, the courts would have to deem him unfit, or a danger to this child to strip him of his rights...

check around you may be able to get a consult for free . or check with your local welfare office and see if they have legal aid or other resources for you

Yeah we just moved home a couple months ago an I have been looking around hopefully something comes up soon.

U should establish full legal and pshysical custody in court, birth certificate has nothing to do with it... my ex still isn't on bc and he's had joint custody for 3 years... if u ask for cs, or he asks for dna test they will establish paternity and he can get custody...

My ex had never even seen our son, went to court and got full custody because I didn't have custody agreement thru courts he had him for 6 weeks cost me over 7,000 to get back into court and get everything settled...
