No. I attended Catholic School where Bible, praying, etc were part of every single day and the amount people that are in/have been in jail from there is ridiculous. Needless to say my DS attends a non denominational School where they learn about different religions but it is not enforced, if religion was enforced in all Schools here my DS would be home Schooled.

Umm, no.

Books don't have magical powers that keep you from committing crime. The majority of inmates probably identify with some sort of religion.

Actually, no I don't agree with it. There are plenty of people who read the Bible that still commit crimes that land them in jail. Reading the Bible isn't enough. The Bible says to not only be hearer's of the word, but doer's as well. So if you are just reading it, there isn't anything that is going to change in your life.

It wouldnt make a difference IMO. Look at all the religious people who were before they went to jail etc.....lol

I wouldnt care if the bible was in schools still tho. And I am not religious at all.

I used to take my bible to PUBLIC school in high school, and read it during our free reading time, and my teacher saw it, and never had an issue with it. Depends on the school I think.

Here the kids are allowed their Bibles and other books too. Just not during assigned work times. I know a 6 year old that conducts Bible studies with children on recess

Wow, That's pretty impressive for a little one! Yeah, I grew up in Rhode Island, you'd think it would have been a problem...but all my teachers knew I was a christian, and so did all the kids- no one ever bothered me about it...I used to pray silently sometimes too if I felt the need to, It was never an issue thankfully.

He's one of Jehovah's Witnesses and his parents study with the children a lot. He's a very knowledgeable little guy. He has 3 Bible studies which is more than a lot of adults in our congregation can say. He studies "My Book of Bible Stories" with them.

I don't even think they should be able to bring one. It distracts them from learning what they need to know. And if we allow that, well, we should allow any books from home...

I guess it varies by school.

Last year, my son's teacher said he was getting his work done fast and would be bored after. That led him to getting into trouble. So I sent books with him to read when he got his work done early...she told him not to bring books anymore. They were like Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.
