Everyone on here doesn't care that you don't want kids, they are more interested in the fact that you married a man with a child already. Hell, I married a man with 2 kids! I was 21 when I met my DH (he's 8.5 years older than me) and I became a stepmom at 23 years old. I LOVE being a mom & stepmom. It wasn't easy at first because I was immature and living the single life, but because I love my DH and wanted a life with him, I had to make an effort to be a stepmom. They moved in with me after 4 months and we've all been together since. I am more involved with them then their father is (for medical reasons) and we have a 2 year old DD together. Kids will always come first to a parent and since your not a parent, you don't understand the unconditional love a parent feels. You need to consider that a 4 year olds life has been changed and he needs both his parents right now. You are being selfish for making him choose between you and his child i.e. not wanting him around the house. Have you even tried being a parent to this child? Maybe trying actually bonding with the child, taking him out, getting to know him. Just because you don't want biological children, didn't you consider the fact that you are a step parent when you married your husband? It's not a one way street - you married him, you are now in his and his child's life. He's going to end up resenting you & leaving your selfish ass. Children are a blessing & its fine that you don't want any, but his son is already here and in his life, so you either suck it up and make the best of it, or do him a favor and leave.

If she's adopting an older child, those are understandable reasons to not. I mean, you can't just adopt any kid.
