What happens to the bail money? *C/S*

I was kind of lead to believe that when BD was arrested after skipping court (Failure to comply with a court order [child support]) and his girlfriend's mom posted bail, that the bail money would go towards child support.
Then a friend tells me today (Her information is hit and miss, sometimes she's right, sometimes she's wrong) that normally the bail money would go towards child support, but since I get benefits (food stamps) it'll go straight to the government.
Is that true?   I was wanting to put the money in LO's savings account for college...So if that's accurate, I'm kind of smurfed because we can't really afford to put smurf in savings...We're seriously pay check to pay check struggling as is...Smurf.

ETA: Forgot to mention, he was $1,700 behind in C/S at the time of his arrest.

it should got to you if your only recieving food stamps. at least thats how it is here. It only goes to the state if you are recieving cash assistance. didn't she post his bail last week? you should have gotten it by now. mine was on my card the next day. call your cs office in the morning

DH got arrested for not paying an ambulance bill and his bail money went to pay that and court fees

I'm pretty sure the person who posted the bail, would get the money back they payed...

Me and LO also receive Medicaid (It's in the C/S agreement that BD is supposed to carry insurance but he doesn't) but I receive no cash benefits.
I haven't checked either, someone else told me it would take a week to show up if it did. I'm going to check now though, I'm just hoping that my friend wasn't right.

yes go check because mine was there the next morning. when I was down at my cs office last month they told me that since i am not recieving cash assistance my whole back balance would go to me. they only take it for cash! so you should be ok

yea maybe ahe didn't pay cash! I would call the office to get all of the infoon this. did he have a warrant our for something else too or just cs?

As far as I know, the only warrant he had out was the failure to appear for the court date we had for failure to comply with a court order (C/S).

His actual charge was failure to appear. He got a court summons for it and when.he didnt go,.they arrested.him and he had to pay the bill for his "bail." It happens a ton.in the US. I did some searching around and it happened to a woman with breast cancer too
