Life really sucks

I've been off my antidepressant for almost 3 weeks now... The first 2 weeks of stopping were HORRIBLE... I got terrible 'brain shocks' the entire time. And still get them but not as much. I feel like i've never been so depressed in my life. I havent seen my daughter in a week before today (but im here now visiting) and thats taking my depression to a whole new level. Its exhausting. I never get out of bed during the day, im just so down... I feel weak, like i have no energy. Im always getting angry SO easily at everything. I dont mean to get so mad but it just happens.. Then when i try to stop, or anyone tries to calm me down, i seem to get super stubborn and i just will not stop. I have no idea whats going on with me....

Why did u stop the medication??

Why did you stop taking them? You should never just stop taking them… you should 'wean' off of them, IF your dr. Thinks its the right thing to do. Sounds like you need them.

I ran out and have no money to get more. I called an outpatient psychological counseling, place. Currently waiting for a call back to schedule an appointment.

What about the doc that prescribed them? Can you call them and explain what's going on- maybe they have some samples or something to get you by…

I, too, start getting angry fits when I've been off my antidepressants. I hope you get to start taking them again soon and get better.

I think im gonna just wait until i start the counseling because the medication i was on was called Effexor, and i do NOT want to take that anymore. It helped with my depression, somewhat... But because i got so dependant on them, the withdrawl symptoms were TERRIBLE.

Effexor is awful to withdrawal from. I was on it for years and it was a complete nightmare when I quit taking it. When I did take it and couldnt afford it I applied for patient assistance through the company that makes it. I would get the medicine mailed to me 3 months worth at a time. I would look into that.

I'm sorry to hear that. Just please try and find some ways to channel that anger in the mean time until you get that back in your system. If you feel a fit of anger come out, try and maybe go to the bathroom and scream into a towel if you have to, or go outside for some brisk fresh air, or call a friend for some deep conversation, maybe splash some cook water on your face to kinda snap you out of it.

It is a nightmare to get off of. Its such a scary experience, since no other antidepressant did that to me. And hmm... I will look into that right now actually. Even though i dont want to take it, i've tried so many other meds and effexor was the only one that helped even a little.

Which one are you on? I can only take Wellbutrin. Zoloft made me crazy!!

I tried zoloft, felt no difference. And im on effexor. Well, was on effexor.

I cant figure out how to apply for the assistance.   Im on the site, but its not telling me how or where to apply at.
