How hot is too hot...

posted 10th Dec
For a bath? This whole pregnancy I've been craving baths and usually my 2yr old comes and jumps in with me, so it's never been as hot as I'd like it. I've been suffering from really bad cramping, and this morning it's moved round to my back, and all I want is a really hot bath. TIA

You aren't supposed to take hot baths because your baby can't regulate its temperature so if you get too hot then the baby will and the baby will boil (not literally lol but it does get much hotter for baby). Take a hot shower though, that is fine to do.

I was the same way while pregnant. Everyone told me NO HOT BATHS EVER yadda yadda yadda, but my doctor just said nothing over about 100 degrees. Which was perfect for my anyhow.

I believe the lucky number is 104. You can take a warm bath, but avoid super hot baths. Not only can they raise your core body temperature, they can make you dizzy and increase the likelihood of a fall.

I use hot showers... my kids shower with me by the time the water reaches them from shower head its a lil cooler than when hits me when I'm standing. I notice when I have to rinse them and bring shower head to them, I have to turn temp down,

Thats not right. I was told to take hot baths to help my back as long as the water isnt to hot to burn your skin. The uterus will regulate the babys temp.

Ahaha that's so reassuring
I figured I'm just going to take them anyways, as it seems to be the only thing that helps with the cramping and the pressure/pain in my crotch.
