Braxton Hicks

posted 10th Dec
This is my 3rd pregnancy(passed 1st trimester)and I've been having bh's since about 25wks or so. At first they were really random & sporadic, but about a month or so ago I noticed I started getting them any & everytime I'm active(like anytime I'm walking for more than 5-10 minutes & the whole time I continue walking after that or up cleaning house & ALWAYS after sex). They are never regular so that's how I know they are bh's, but they are & can be VERY INTENSE & a single one can last for more than 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Does anyone else have this problem &/or know of a way that I can either stop them(which I really don't think there is  )or maybe possible make them more bearable or infrequent? I've told my Dr about them but she doesn't seem concerned or worried and just says ok.

The best way to make them go away is to drink some water and lay down and take a rest.

Water. LOTS of water. Lay down and relax. Of course my body is weird and I only get them when I AM relaxing, but it's not like that for most people

Mine became timeable, painful (in my back) and would last for hours. This started at around 30 weeks and i gave birth the day before my due date.

That's great advice...however I WISH I could get plenty of rest when they start  , but its very hard to do when I have no car &/or license(neither does bf) & have to walk anywhere I need to go, or when at home I have an almost 5yr old and a VERY VERY active 3 1/2 yr old & my bf is usually gone either looking for work or working at an odd job...can having bh's so frequent & intense cause me to go into labor(because I have to have C-sections) or hurt the baby in anyway?

No and no. They won't do either one. Some ladies have BH through their entire pregnancy.

When I went in they checked my cervix, waited a couple hours and checked it again. When there was no cervical change they said there was nothing to worry about at all and that they wouldn't hurt me or baby and as long as my cervix stayed high and closed it was nothing, just uncomfortable. Of course, the only way to know if your cervix is changing is to go get checked.

I actually starting having BHs today (22 weeks). This is my my second child. My dr said that its common and the best thing to do is drink H2O -which I really dont like- and it usually happens when your active. I also have to have c-sections soI am nervous about that too.

That makes me feel better to know that they won't harm the baby or that it won't send me into real labor...unfortunately(for me anyways  ) it sounds like I can either lay around & drink gallons of water for the rest of my pregnancy(which while sounding nice, isn't possible  ) or just accept that for this pregnancy bh are going to be a normal part of my daily life & routine... ...
