Cradle cap

posted 10th Dec
It looks like Travis has a mild case of cradle cap. Should I just leave it be or should I try the baby oil and brush thing? Also just so I have my facts straight, with the baby oil I just put it on his head and leave it for a bit then use a brush to get rid of the scaley stuff? Or do I have it wrong lol

That's what worked for us.   I would do it because all it does is get worse and then it's harder to clear.

Let the baby oil sit overnight. After you brush it out in the morning, wash his hair and it should be gone.

I put baby oil on, massaged & rubbed their heads for awhile then softly brushed it. Not sure if it was the right thing to do but it seemed to help & rubbing their heads relaxed them to sleep!! Lol

Don't bother with baby oil. It's basically a byproduct of petroleum refinement. It prevents skin from "breathing". So you could very well end up making cradle cap worse.

You can use either coconut oil, olive oil, or avocado oil. All three work great. I used avocado oil on my DD's head. I'd slather it on in the morning (and put a receiving blanket or burp cloth under her head), then when she had her bath at night, I'd mix a bit of the oil with shampoo and wash it out, then brush the scales out. Cradle cap was gone within a couple of days and she hasn't had an issue with it since.
