Mommys giving formula

posted 10th Dec
For those of you giving your baby formula, what kind of brand are using?
I'm on wic so I get enfamil. My baby was on the infant one but he would always spit up,so I now switched him to A.R. Just keeping an eye on him to see how he reacts to it, so far good, but I'm a little worried after reading other posts on here about A.R causing severe constipation!

When I quit BFing with my first we used Similac premixed for fussiness and gas because that's all he would drink. He was really constipated the whole time he was on it, though. Couldn't get him to drink anything else at all, though.

We had to use Similac Alimentum because DD has a milk protein allergy. She is now 15 months and on a hypoallergenic toddler formula, Elecare Jr.

DS was on Similac Sensitive, then switched to Similac Advanced.

I've heard the same with the AR formula. If your LO gets constipated contact their pediatrician and they will most likely recommend an ounce or so of prune or pear juice.

That's what we did. His pedi put him on a medication but I hated giving it to him so he got an ounce or 2 of baby prune juice every other day and it worked wonders

Thats what i was doing with my son, but even 4 ounces a day like my pedi recommended wasnt working. 2 in the morning 2 at night. Now that he gets rice cereal mixed with applesauce hes good, and were starting to introduce mangos. in prolly 2 months we will start with spinach.

It worked at first for my kiddos, but they have serious constipation issues, we eventually had to get an Rx for Miralax.

Yeah, it only worked for a little while with my kids. We ended up having to use Miralax because they get so constipated.

I can't remember the name of the medicine they had put him on but it was bright green, STICKY and smells like black liquorish. Bleh. If juice would work I didn't see why I should be giving it to him, so I didn't. Hoping I can BF longer with this one and maybe hold off on the possible formula constipation
