You first called me money hungry and now cold hearted.
The cost of daycare was configured in it, she pays $350/month. As for housing, the past year and a half they lived at her boyfriends mothers house where she was "saving money to buy a house".

You asked if the transfers were considered gifts or child support. If it's recurrent every 1st, it's child support.
Do you even see your step child?
How did you get the calculation for child support if you don't have a court order? he just transfered the money into her account?

Yeah, but that was when we lived six hours away so we went down there once a month. She now has baby daddy number two (they actually dated for a year and a half) who has no job, so I think she has bigger fish to fry than to give my husband grief who she doesn't have an emotional past with and hasn't troubled her.
I am with you though.

I know in the State of SC, whatever state the person who filed for the support in that is the state where the case will be heard. Also, it is usually decided that the parents have to meet halfway and the amount of CS is decided on how much the father (or whoever will be paying child support) makes, how many children, and how much income the other parent also has coming in. The amount of the medical bills also depends on how much the father makes (or whoever will be paying the support) and the other party is responsible for the rest. And here, you do actually have to go to court and the person paying support continues to pay until the judge makes his decision and it is filed with the courts. But it all depends on what state you live in

Yes, I saw someone on here put that they could claim the money as a gift since it wasn't court ordered .. I just thought about that as I was writing my OP. We were six hours away so we went down there to see her once a month, but a year and a half ago we moved a thousand miles away. Since then we have seen her twice, when we have asked to have her the mother has said a week tops, which is not realistic considering the cost of three round trip tickets. She is now old enough to fly as an unaccompanied minor, but the mother refuses to allow that so that is why I asked how out of state visits work.
They use her states child support website calculator that takes both incomes, dependants, insurance and daycare (I may be missing other factors) and gives an estimate. Originally my husband wanted to take her to court, but her father begged my husband to try Just walk away, but I'd he wanted to stay to come to an agreement with her since her father would end up having to pay for her court costs. So they found this calculator and have gone off of it since.

well she'd be a money hungry bitch to claim it as a gift and any judge will see through that ( hopefully).

It could really go either way. I would like to give her the benefit of the doubt, but you can't just assume when dealing with such an irrational person.
