Painful abdomen

I'm 34 weeks pregnant today and for the last 3 (ish) weeks have had a really painful stomach. I have been to the labour ward to get it checked out as I was feeling really hot and shivery as well; turns out the baby is absolutely fine, and it must be my stomach and bowels etc hurting. It feels like the baby is literally sitting right on top of all of my organs and squashing them really hard. Has anyone else had this issue? Not that there's anything that can be done!

Did they do an ultrasound to check your placenta?

No, they monitored the baby's movements from the outside, and then checked my cervix wasn't dilating, and it wasn't so all seemed fine with the baby.

I'd really have them check your placenta.

Sorry for butting in, but why the placenta? Im a first timer here and i'd like to know why the placenta may make ur tummy hurt? Tia.

I would've thought they'd think to check that.
