Job search question

Ok so I am on mat leave right now from my job in a factory. I DO NOT want to go back there because it is shift work and my DH also works shift work which makes finding childcare next to impossible because when we are on night shift we have no one to watch DD, not to mention we would only see her 2 weeks a month   We would need daycare for daytime AND overnight. I am trying desperately to find a fulltime day job. Very frustrating!! Well I found a job posting that would be great. I applied   Anyways I was informed that applicants would be contacted possibly last thurs or fri for interviews to start today. I never heard anything   I am feeling REALLY disappointed but trying not to give up hope....My question is would it be a bad idea to call and ask what could be improved on my resume?? For furture applications??

I would call and tell them you are just checking to make sure they received you application. Maybe they didn't get it? I usually do that because it makes them remember your name and they may look for your application faster.

Bring your resume to one of those job search places and they will redo it for you.

I do that every couple of years. lol and they just do it, then they send it out to places for you on their job boards. etc.....

I did that last week. They were accepting resumes up until wed(Dec 5). I called on wed to follow up and yes they had received it and it was passed on.   I am really hoping that they decided to wait, or needed more time to review or something....but I also want to put my mind at ease

I would write a thank you letter for the hr/hm for reviewing your resume. And its possible one of the people they interview might not work out.. So that thank you letter might give you a shoe in if such happens.

We have the one with the YMCA. And another one called Job connects I think. I am trying to google so you can see if you have one near you. hold on. lol

I wish that would work for us but our shifts are weird! 7am -330 pm OR 6pm-230am. Even if we were on opposite shifts(we work for the same company) it would not work because he has a 1.5hr commute both ways so he'd be getting home from day shift right when i started nights PLUS every 6 months we would end up on the same shift again ugh

I went in and they asked me question for about 45 min, and they made my resume based off of my answers and previous work history etc.....put it together and they keep a copy on file and print you copies for free, then they have a huge board where employers post their jobs and you tell them what ones you want to apply for and they send it.

Also try job bank canada. they have a resume builder online etc....

Thanks   The closest one to me is in my home town! I am headed there on fri for the weekend so I might just have to pop in there!

Ok I called the job I applied for and they are interviewing today. They called everyone they wanted to see on Friday.   Searching again! At least I dont have to go back to work early...I guess that is a positive

We work for the same company as well lol. My DHs shift is 7:00am-5:00 pm and mine is 1:00 pm-12:00 am. Its about a 35 min commute to work for us.
