Oh yeah. I thought I was going into labor again.

And, I had no idea that I would have so much formula forced on me. When my DD slept for 12 hours in the hospital one day, they tried to tell me I was going to have to give her formula. No way. Same when she wasn't back up to birth weight by 2 weeks. Or when my mom felt I wasn't producing enough(I was), even though baby was fine. I hear stories of women who were told by their doctors that they had to give formula because they had a c-section, because baby didn't latch right away, that formula was better, that the NICU doesn't let moms breastfeed....it's really sad. If a woman WANTS to formula feed, that's fine. But no one should try to force her to when she doesn't want to.

I also had no idea that I could stand up for myself and what I wanted. I thought that the doctors got to make all MY choices and that I had no say.

That's the spirit!

And   to the part about your boobs. I LOVE my nursing boobs, they're a D instead of a B and I'm keeping them. I refuse to give them back

It really just depends on the doctor and hospital policies. When I had our first in hospital I was encourage to drink as much water as I wanted to. Food wise I was limited to soup, and ice pops during labor lol.

With midwife at home I was told to drink or eat whatever I wanted to.

I was 4cm dilated and they were admitting me for being in active labor, I felt NOTHING and tried to convince them that I wasn't in labor and that I should be able to grab dinner with my friends for my bday! Cause I was admitted on my birthday! They weren't buying it lol

Next time, I'm doing delayed cord clamping(I had no idea that this was possible/healthy. I thought it was life-threatening to leave the cord uncut. No one ever told me about this until after DD was born.)
Placenta encapsulation (I wanted to do it with DD but I didn't because my mom thought it was gross)
NO vaginal exams until I'm in labor.
NO PIT! I was progressing wonderfully, and was given pit for no reason. I was too stoned on nubain to think about it and say no.
Cloth diapering from the start.
aaaand that's all I can think of right now. But there was so much I didn't know I could do/didn't have to do.

What hospital did you use? I am in MA as well and was at Umass Memorial and they screwed me hardcore.
I was admitted for being in active labor at 4cm (although I didn't feel any pain and was convinced I wasn't in labor) was advised to walk for 2 hours in order to progress, was put on pitocin, had my water broken, pushed for 6 hours and resulted in an unnecessary c-section. (her heart rate was fine, as was mine. She was just sunny side up)

I was shaking during/after delivery, so bad I was afraid to hold my baby.

Absolutely am! I feel SO robbed of my delivery. I didn't feel like a mom for the first 2 years because I didn't deliver my child, she was taken from me. I had a hard time bonding with her in the beginning because of it. It was so awful.

But we are going to TTC in a little less than a year and that baby IS going to be a VBAC baby! (you know, unless anyones health is compromised then of course I will do another c-section haha)

I was told that they would massage my uterus, and they never did. I was also told I would have a sitz(sp?) bath and never did.

Placenta pills really helped me with PPD the second time around. Wish I would of done it with our first.
