Advice... Please?

I am supposed to go in today to get a colposcopy with a biopsy at 1pm. I had a "severely abnormal" pap two months ago. I asked my doctor the risks, if the biopsy *had* to be done, etc. He just seems pushy about it, and kinda laughed when I said I hadn't heard of anyone getting the biopsy while pregnant. He said "you have to"..I'm scared beyond belief. I've been thinking about it the past week to the point where I cry because I'm so confused as to do it or not.
My question is... would you have it done? This is my second pregnancy, but it's my first one that made it this far.

I probably would if he is pushing it. Ask why it must be done now, and ask what the risks are and all of that!

I had an abnormal pap when I was pregnant with my son and my doctor said doing a biopsy wasn't necessary during pregnancy, but mine wasn't a big deal. I had it done at my 6 week PP appointment. Personally I think I would be uncomfortable with having one done during pregnancy, but it really wasn't a big thing. He took an itty bitty piece of my cervix and it barely pinched, so I don't really know.

I just had a colpo done last month. I didn't have a severely abnormal pap, but it was abnormal. And the doc did a biopsy anyway. It's not that bad, really. And my doc did 2 biopsies

I had a colpo and biopsy done in this pregnancy because my ob said if i had cancer then they would have to take the baby at 36 weeks to treat me..but im still in pre-cancer stage so it can be treated after birth..

I'd have it done. I had 3 colposcopys & a leep. If he's pushing it he may be trying to catch something before it progresses. I had the very abnormal cells one colposcopy while pregnant with my first. A few months later i had a leep done & i had pre cancerous lesions deeper in my cervix. The biopsy will let them know what to expect & how to treat. Sometimes it can be as easy as antibiotics a freeze or sweep. Not saying what you're going through might be cancer or trying to scare you. Just trying to share my experience. The test could be nothing but better safe & prepared.. good luck mama. Im sure it's just precautions.

Your doctor is trying to figure out what is going on. I think you will be safe getting this done and it could potentially save your life and the life of your baby. If there was any risk of you losing the baby he wouldn't be pushing so hard for this. To me it sounds like he has a bad bedside manor and just isn't taking the time to explain all the details. I hope everything turns out good for you and you are in my prayers.

Here's a little update. I went in yesterday for the Colposcopy & they did have to do a biopsy. I cramped the rest of the day after that, but so far no bleeding this morning & I feel like nothing happened. Although waiting 2 weeks for the results doesn't sound too fun.
I have a normal checkup this Friday & hoping to schedule an anatomy scan. Thanks again ladies.
