handling a 9 month old

So I've talked alot about how needy my son is. More so than the average baby his age. If I set him up with toys or something so I can go to the restroom he ignores them and just stands at the baby gate and screems. He wants to be held 24/7 and all that kind of stuff. So the issue we're haver now is diaper and clothing changes. The way they ask about it at daycare I feel like he's not normal in his behavior so I'm curious is it normal and if not how do I handle it. I don't want him getting older and still acting out. When we lay him down to be changed We have to do it on the floor because he kicks and screams and rolls to the point where he almost falls off of anything we may have him on if changing him. I took him to a changing room at the mall and all the other moms were looking at me like I was trying to kill him. He screams and turns bright red to the point where he wont breath, He tries to roll over and get away. He has a total break down. He's gotten better about it if it's only a diaper change but if we try to put clothes on him you can forget about it. It's a 2 sometimes 3 man job to just get him dressed in the morning. I'm so lost. I know babies don't like getting dressed but is it really worth all this? I just don't know how to handle it. I don't want a 4 year old who does this so how do I nip it in the bud?
